Studies show that 68% of dollars spent locally recirculate locally. Keeping customer traffic, purchasing power and business right in town is the key to the economic vitality of Main St. When shoppers buy elsewhere, that money is GONE!

Studies also show that over 50 % of all shopping experiences start with an online search and almost 30% still use print newspaper to learn about a local business.

If you are involved in helping to keep a vital economy in your community; if you are involved in helping your town have a healthy retail district; if you care about local business – you need to know about DailyScoopon.

DailyScoopon makes it easy and inexpensive for smaller merchants to bring business in the door…and keep it. DailyScoopon helps them put the messages they want in front of local customers who are, as we know… searching for them!

Every offer on DailyScoopon is search engine optimized so that it can be found on Google, Yahoo, Facebook pages and other sites. Is time and technology a worry for the merchants in your town? Posting an offer on DailyScoopon as a ScooponMerchant takes 3 minutes. Decide on the message or offer… type it into one of the templates provided in the ScooponMerchant’s private account… done! The cost of this powerful, local advertising is only $49 a month. And messages can be changed every single day if wanted!

Social media was always intended to be this easy… social media was always intended to work hard for the little guy… now it does!

The more local merchants participate and the more active they are on DailyScoopon, the more $$ stay on Main St. Bring DailyScoopon to your community of merchants and citizens — and keep local $$ right where they belong.

Business Insider is an excellent source for social media and internet trends. Today they published Marc Andreessen’s prediction, (Marc developed Firefox while a student at University of Illinois) of the demise of local hard goods retailing due to inefficiencies of carrying inventory. www.businessinsider.com/marc-andreessen-retailers-should-be-scared-about-2012-2011-12

The author does not point out one unfair advantage on-line retailers enjoy. Internet companies like Amazon get to sell retail without collecting sales tax while our local merchants with far fewer resources still do. Think about how much money is not being collected and remitted to our local city and towns! Do you believe for a second that they don’t have the technology to pull it off? How has Amazon or a big box retailer contributed to your local school system, police or fire department?

What will supporting DailyScoopon’s Deals with a Conscience do for your community? Keep retailers in business and keep dollars in your town.

First, we charge the merchants up to 40% less for promoting their services. Our “ScooponMerchants” can provide YOU deals and offers that make sense for them! If they have low prices, they don’t have to inflate them to bring you 50% off. We do not support “mark it up to mark it down.” On DailyScoopon you can grab a 20% off deal and enjoy great service, food or goods. We also provide meaningful part time jobs for salespeople, copywriters and social media marketers right in your community! Our business model is local… first, second and third! This recycles dollars that are spent again and again in your town.

How can we do this? First, DailyScoopon was founded and funded by Wendy Darland and a few of her friends who share a passion for local small business. She is not building the Company for unnatural and unsustainable financial returns. While Wendy and her colleagues want to make a good living, they are driven by the passion to create fair jobs and keep commerce in communities. Wendy’s not Pollyanna in thinking we will pay a premium to shop local, but she does believe if all choices are equal, and DailyScoopon provides a good experience for community members, DailyScoopon will drive enough traffic to generate jobs and well-being for both retailers and subscribers.

The DailyScoopon team is dedicated to these principles. In our journey, we have met and joined forces with small business experts in SEO, web marketing, best practices for retail marketing, PR, and email marketing. Whether you are a shopkeeper or a shopper let DailyScoopon keep good business going and participate in our “deals with a conscience.”

I was telling a friend last Friday how distressed I was that Groupon took more than $300,000 per month out of the Boston economy month after month last year. That’s over $3,500,000! To do that small businesses struggled to provide 50% discounts and hefty Groupon commissions, and I saved maybe $150 all told! All of this business was created on-line and over the phone from Chicago – I think only 1 Groupon salesperson worked in Boston in 2010. Not only were the jobs in Chicago and not only did profits leave Boston, but I wonder how much of the $300,000/month went to Russia where their largest outside shareholder lived?

My vision for DailyScoopon has always been driven by being fair. Win, win, win. My interest is in providing fair deals from good businesses to smart shoppers. I want to create and help retain jobs in every locale we serve. Retaining jobs for retailers, restaurant owners and workers who are not risking everything to offer you a deal – and creating jobs for social media marketers, sales people, copywriters; every kind of employee a new business needs to grow. At DailyScoopon we are building our business community by community by hiring staff right where they can work directly with key DailyScoopon stakeholders — shopkeepers and shoppers.

We aren’t turning the clock back on Daily Deals, we’re just leaving more in the actual retailer or service provider’s pocket. We are hiring people in the community to write, promote and service the business owners. We believe that we are making a difference by offering smart, considerate local shoppers “deals with a conscience.”

When you are deciding which daily deal email to subscribe to, give DailyScoopon a chance. We’re bringing good offers from businesses you should know about in the communities you care about. And while we are saving jobs in those businesses — we are creating jobs in ours.
